WHAT WE DO
The strategy followed by Flexitral since its creation late in 2001 is to identify the fragrance and flavor industry's most pressing needs and answer them by rational odorant design (see new article). Flexitral has developed methods to predict the smell
of a molecule before it is synthesized. When looking for a target compound
with a specific odor, we generate a dataset of hundreds of structures.
Odor character and intensity are calculated for every structure. Once
a target has been identified, synthesis begins. All our products were reached after synthetic programs of less than 10 molecules. The lead compound is optimised and patent applications filed when appropriate. We then license the intellectual property to manufacturers or consumers interested in exclusive rights to the novel odorant.
